There were emotional scenes after yesterday's Munster Ladies Club Senior Football final when Ballymacarby were crowned champions for the first time since 2000.
It was a special win for team captain Michelle McGrath and Michelle Ryan who had lost a whopping 11 provincial finals in the intervening years. McGrath had the honour of raising the Michael Ryan Cup after the 0-8 to 0-5 victory over The Banner from Clare. The cup is named after Michelle Ryan's father who guided the Ballymac' and Waterford ladies to numerous successes before going on to manage the Waterford and Westmeath senior hurlers.
Four points from Sinead Kenrick were crucial as Ballymac' celebrated a long-overdue Munster success after recently winning their county championship for a remarkable 41st consecutive year.
