Former Cork ladies boss Ephie Fitzgerald has taken over as Waterford’s new senior football manager.

Fitzgerald steered Cork ladies to All-Ireland glory in 2016 before stepping down at the end of the 2019 season only to take the reins again that October for two more seasons.

The Nemo Rangers clubman succeeds Shane Ronayne as Deise football boss, with the latter having since taken over his previous position in Cork.

Last year saw Waterford reaching the Division 4 semi-finals, where they lost out to Antrim, before exiting the Munster SFC at the hands of Limerick at the southern province’s semi-final stage.

Yesterday, Waterford GAA confirmed Fitzgerald’s appointment with the following:

"Waterford GAA are delighted to announce that at a meeting of the Management Committee tonight Ephie Fitzgerald was unanimously recommended for ratification as the new County Senior Football Manager on a two-year term.”
