Roanmore's Gavin O'Brien in the colours of Waterford

Roanmore produced the second-half goods this afternoon to defeat Dungarvan by 1-15 to 0-12 and book a place in the Waterford senior hurling championship final for the first time in 31 years.

Gavin O’Brien struck 0-11 for the winners over the hour at Walsh Park, where Dungarvan had led by the odd point in 15 at the break before their opponents hit another gear.

Emmet O’Toole’s goal in the 44th minute also proved key for Roanmore in setting up a final date against eight-in-a-row chasing Ballygunner next Sunday after the Gunners overcame a stern test from Mount Sion yesterday.

O’Toole’s strike surged Roanmore 1-9 to 0-11 in front and they wouldn’t look back from there, stretching the lead to three via points from Eoin Madigan, Sean Burke and O’Brien prior to adding as many points in injury-time.
