De La Salle have been condemned to the relegation playoffs after they were knocked out of the Waterford SHC by city rivals Mount Sion at Walsh Park on Saturday.

Donal Power's early goal laid the foundations for a comfortable 2-19 to 0-14 victory for Sion. Former Hurler of the Year Austin Gleeson cut over two sidelines in the second half before Stephen Roche raised a second green flag with nine minutes remaining. Mount Sion's clash with Dungarvan next weekend will decide who tops Group C.

Fresh from scoring 4-13 against Tallow in the opening round, Maurice Shanahan bagged a further 1-12, including a late winning point, to hand Lismore a dramatic 1-20 to 0-22 victory over Fourmilewater. The former county star's goal came from a 13th minute penalty.

Tallow got back to winning ways against Ballysaggart thanks to corner back Mark O'Brien's last-gasp goal. Stephen Bennett hit 1-7 for Ballysaggart, but it wasn't enough as O'Brien's late goal secured a 4-17 to 2-22 victory for Tallow, who face Fourmilewater next.

Meanwhile, Roanmore staved off the threat of relegation with a 1-20 to 0-15 defeat of Clonea.
