The GAA has requested that counties submit their projected team budgets ahead of the upcoming 2021 season.

RTE Sport reports that county boards are due to send in their budgets to Croke Park on Tuesday evening, with a virtual meeting of counties treasurers' having been held last Thursday to discuss the financial challenges for the months ahead.

It is understood that during the meeting treasures expressed concerns over how counties could prepare their teams for competitions with income streams having been greatly dented throughout 2020.

Six days ago, the GAA confirmed that it would be suspending collective inter-county training until February 1 at the earliest due to the rise in Covid-19 cases across the country.

It is also felt that a delay to the start of the Allianz Hurling and Football Leagues at the end of February is very possible given the circumstances at present.
