Dublin's clash with Kerry in the national football league attracted most of the headlines but we also had 15 other matches taking place today.

Neither side gave an inch when the perennial Sam Maguire Cup winners met the league holders at Thurles, while there was also a crunch all-Connacht encounter between Galway and Roscommon in Division One South.

In Division Two of the football, Meath travelled to the Athletic Grounds to face Down while Kildare had home advantage against classy Clare.

In Group A of Division One of the national hurling league, meanwhile, Waterford welcomed holders Limerick to Walsh Park for a repeat of December's All-Ireland SHC final, while Westmeath locked horns with Cork in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Clare travelled to Portlaoise to take on Laois in Division 1B.
