Derry are a win away from a place in the Christy Ring Cup final after overcoming London’s challenge by 3-14 to 1-14 in Owenbeg this afternoon.
Seeking their second win in the competition, it was London that made the better start to this contest by running up a 0-7 to 0-2 lead before the hosts hit them with quickfire goals.
Gerald Bradley and Odhran McKeever bagged the majors that saw the Oak Leafers storm into the lead but they’d lose it before break as the Exiles went in ahead 0-11 to 2-4.
The sides were all square in the 51st minute when Tiaran McHugh rocketed in Derry’s third goal and from there they were able to see out victory despite their opponents netting a goal in injury-time.
The result means a win for Derry over May next weekend will advance them to the final against Kildare after the Lilywhites crushed Wicklow yesterday.
TweetFT, @Doiregaa 3-14, London 1-14. Not a great Derry display, 19 wides indicative of some wasteful shooting but it means if Oak Leaders win against Mayo, they're in the Christy Ring Cup final.
