Harlesden Harps club notes

September 06, 2021

Upcoming fixture:

It’s semi-final time! Harlesden Harps enter the knock-out rounds of the Intermediate Championship this coming Sunday, 12th September at 2:30pm, against Garryowen at Wormwood Scrubs, Artillery Lane, W12 0DF. As usual, make sure you check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and ensure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the game.

Keep an eye on https://twitter.com/harlesdenharps during the week for any changes to the match details.

Previous matches:

The Harps completed their group games in the Intermediate Championship with a clinical performance easing to a comfortable victory against Tír Chonaill Gaels recently. Ryan McSherry was again the man troubling the umpires the most finishing with 1-09 to his name. Nine different scorers for us on the day including further majors from Aaron Foley, Niall Lynam, Jack McShane and Conall White ensuring a comprehensive 5-18 to 0-04 win.

Three wins from three on our return to the Intermediate stage, let’s hope the winning run continues now in the knock-out phase (see above).

New Jerseys:

Many thanks to club stalwart Gerry Rowley for his recent gift of a cracking set of jerseys for the new season. The stylish green remains but now with an added white band across the chest, the best dressed prize already wrapped up in the end-of-season club awards!

Training:

Training continues every week taking place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, at 7:00pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). A physio will be there on Tuesdays for any niggles you may have. Any new players wishing to "play a bit a ball" are very welcome to come along to this well-run club. If needed we can offer good jobs, along with accommodation and a social life to our members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged.
