Upcoming fixture:
Covid restrictions permitting, the Harps are back in championship action this coming Saturday, November 07th against Wandsworth Gaels. The match is due to take place at 2:00pm in Greenford, pitch one, London, UB6 0NZ. As usual, make sure you check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and ensure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the game.
It’s knock-out from here on in so no excuses are allowed, let’s put in the work and effort and be looking forward to a county final afterwards.
However, with the ever changing nature of government restrictions keep an eye on https://twitter.com/harlesdenharps during the week for the most up-to-date match details.
Previous match:
Harlesden Harps opened up their Junior championship campaign against a well organised St Clarets team in tough, grinding conditions in Greenford. The wet underfoot surface was of no benefit to either team and throughout the Clarets just seemed to adapt that little bit better to wet weather football than the Harps. This saw us trail by 0-06 to 0-03 at the half time break but crucially a couple of gilt-edged goal changes were missed in that first half by the Harps men. Brian Driver did manage to nail one of them in the second half and Ryan McSherry contributed a few frees but overall we didn’t play to our potential and were defeated on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-06. All is not lost though as we are into the semi-finals (see above) and with wet conditions more than likely expected let’s hope we’ve ran our bad day out of the system.
Training:
Training continues every week taking place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, at 7:00pm in The Shamrock Club, 307A Horn Lane, Acton, W3 0BP (nearest tube station: North Acton on the Central Line). A physio will be there on Tuesdays for any niggles you may have. Any new players wishing to "play a bit a ball" are very welcome to come along to this well-run club. If needed we can offer good jobs, along with accommodation and a social life to our members. Transport to and from training and pick up from local stations can also be arranged.
