St Thomas’ All-Ireland club SHC winning manager Kenneth Burke has stepped down after four seasons in charge.
Burke, who was also over the Galway minor team that lost this year’s All-Ireland semi-final to eventual champions Tipperary after extra-time, led St Thomas’ to their second Tommy Moore Cup success earlier this year following a dramatic victory over O’Loughlin Gaels. His departure comes after St Thomas’ quest for a remarkable seven-in-a-row or Galway SHC titles was ended by Cappataggle in last month’s county semi-final.
“We are disappointed to announce that our senior manager, Kenneth Burke, and his management team have left their roles at the conclusion of the 2024 season,” the Kilchreest / Peterswell club said in a statement.
“Kenneth took on the reins from Kevin Lally in 2021 after dedicating 20 years of his life as a player, and guided the lads to an historic six in-a-row senior championships and led the club back to All-Ireland glory in January 2024
“We’d like to thank Kenneth and all his management teams over the last four years for all their dedication, hard work & commitment during their tenure. We are truly grateful for all the wonderful memories ye have given us & we wish ye all the best with ye’re future endeavours.”
