Meath's Sean Kelly and Barry Callaghan

Meath GAA has revealed that Barry Callaghan and Sean Kelly will take charge of their U20 team for the upcoming Leinster championship.

In a tweet this morning, the Royal County announced that 1996/99 All-Ireland winner Callaghan and renowned coach Kelly will lead a new management team which will fill the void created by the shock departure of Bernard Flynn and his selectors last Friday evening.

The new look management team also includes former players Paddy Reynolds, Stephen Bray and Paddy Gilsenan as selectors.

This year’s Leinster U20 FC is due to get underway on Thursday, July 1 but Meath must adopt a wait-and-see approach as their first involvement in the competition will depend on the outcome of the 2020 Leinster MFC final against Offaly which is due to be played next Wednesday (June 30) in Cusack Park, Mullingar.

If Meath win the delayed minor final, their U20s won’t enter their respective championship until the semi-final stage on Thursday, July 15.

If they lose, the Royals will feature in the quarter-final draw which is pencilled in for Thursday, July 8.
