Peter Lynch has reprised his role as Down ladies football manager after a year’s absence.

The Armagh man served as joint-manager with Caoibhe Sloan from 2019 to 2021 before handing over the reins to Ronan McCartan. The Mourne ladies were relegated to the junior ranks this year and a familiar face has been tasked with reviving their fortunes.

"I am delighted and honoured to once again manage Down senior ladies. I would like thank the executive committee for giving me the opportunity,” Lynch said in a statement.

“Over the past number of weeks, a strong, experienced management team has been assembled, which will be announced at a later date, as not to distract from their current commitments.

“We believe the footballers in Down are as good as any in the country and we look forward to the challenges that lie ahead of us all next season."
