Former Derry underage star Callum Brown has signed an one-year extension with AFL club Greater Western Sydney Giants which will bring him up to the end of the 2023 season.

After impressing for Derry in the 2017 All-Ireland MFC final at Croke Park, Brown made the move Down Under as an 18-year-old, having signed for the Giants on a rookie contract.

He made his AFL debut against Brisbane in May of last year - as a medical substitute - and the Limavady Wolfhounds clubman followed that up with two goals against Geelong Cats.

Giants general manager of football Jason McCartney was pleased to secure Brown's signature.

"Callum has taken the next step in his AFL development, and we were pleased he was able to see the reward for his effort at the back end of this season," he said.

"His speed and athleticism are unmatched, and we’re excited about his potential as he continues to hone his footy skills."
