Limerick keep joint captains despite GAA clamp down on practice

Limerick senior football manager Billy Lee has confirmed that Iain Corbett and Donal O’Sullivan will continue as the team's joint captains in 2021.

Corbett and O'Sullivan lifted the McGrath Cup together last January but the GAA ended the practice of co captains accepting cups at official presentations after Central Council passed a motion at Congress three months ago.

The duo also led the Treaty County to promotion from Division 4 of the Allianz League in 2020 and they came within a whisker of reaching a first Munster SFC final in 10 years, only to be beaten by eventual champions Tipperary in extra-time.

Lee's charges will look to gain some measure of revenge for last year's provincial semi-final defeat to Tipp when the Munster rivals meet in their league Division 3 South opener at the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Saturday week.
