Meath's Bernard Flynn made an incredible gesture to his former Cork opponent Steven O'Brien on RTÉ's Today with Maura and Dáithí show yesterday.

In one of the most absorbing gaelic football rivalries during the late 1980's and early 1990's, Flynn and O'Brien crossed paths on the field regularly.

The sides met in four All-Ireland SFC finals (one replay), including the 1990 decider which Cork edged by 0-11 to 0-9 and after the final whistle, O'Brien and Flynn exchanged jerseys.

30 odd years later, they appeared together on television, with newly appointed Meath U20 boss Flynn presenting the Nemo Rangers clubman with the jersey he wore that day.

"You're joking me. Fantastic. That's a surprise now." O'Brien was taken aback by the lovely touch. Flynn even had the jersey framed and commented: "I'm delighted it's back to its rightful owner, one of the greatest unsung heroes of Cork football."
