Roscommon are set to proceed with this weekend’s crunch promotion clash against Cavan despite having a player test positive for Covid-19.

The county board confirmed in a statement last night that a player contracted Coronavirus and is now self-isolating, with close contacts also being tested and self-isolating.

"A member of the Roscommon Senior football Panel has tested positive for Covid-19,” the statement read.

"On receipt of instructions from the HSE in conjunction with our medical team, the members of the panel and management who have been deemed to be close contacts have now been referred for testing and have also begun their period of restricted movement.

"These panel members and management will only re-join the panel when deemed safe to do so by the HSE.

"The senior football management and panel have at all times strictly adhered to HSE and Public Health guidelines."

A draw at Kingspan Breffni on Saturday (throw-in 2pm) would be enough for the Rossies to secure their third promotion from Division 2 in five years after two Enda Smith penalties helped them past Armagh last weekend.
