'The heart, the soul, the determination' - This is what is means to be a #ProperFan

August 16, 2019

Galway native John McDermott is a #ProperFan.

THE latest in our series of summer videos features two supporters, one from Galway and one from Dublin, who are the essence of #ProperFan.

John McDermott, from Ballyconneely in county Galway, is an avid fan of Ladies Gaelic Football, and he’s also the current Galway LGFA Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Maria Robertson rarely, if ever, misses a game involving her native Dublin, and her daughter, Aoife, is on the county’s U13 Development Squad and plays with the Round Towers club in Clondalkin.

“The heart, the soul, the determination – is it more enjoyable than anything I see at the moment? Yes, it really and truly is,” says John.

“It’s the winter, and you’re on a sideline somewhere, and the rain, the hail, the snow and the wind beating into your face…you don’t mind it, you come out to support.”

John will be at Croke Park on Sunday, August 25, to cheer on Galway as they take on Connacht rivals Mayo in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-final.

That game, which throws in at 2pm, is the first on the double-bill at Croke Park, as the famous venue prepares to host the TG4 All-Ireland Senior semi-finals for the very first time.

At 3.45pm, Maria’s beloved Dublin, the reigning TG4 All-Ireland Senior Champions, tackle Cork in the second semi-final.

You can buy tickets for the games at the following link: http://lgfa.tickets.ie/

Tickets are also available at all usual GAA outlets, by calling the LGFA office (01-8353156) or by emailing [email protected]
