Brisbane Lions Orla O'Dwyer

Tipperary dual star Orla O’Dwyer capped off a memorable Australian Football League Women's season at Brisbane Lions by finishing runner-up in the club's Best and Fairest Awards.

O'Dwyer was a key figure as the Lions claimed their first ever Premiership crown, dethroning holders Adelaide Crows in last weekend’s historic Grand Final at the Adelaide Oval.

In Australian sport, the Best and Fairest Awards (generally voted on by players), recognises the player adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition.

The 22-year-old was pipped to the overall Player of the Year award by Ally Anderson in what was "the tightest vote count in the club’s AFLW history", according to the Lions website.
