Former Tipperary senior ladies football manager Shane Ronayne.

Shane Ronayne is set to become the new manager of the Waterford senior football team on a two-year term.

The Mitchelstown native was unanimously given the green light to replace Benji Whelan at a meeting of the county management committee tonight.

Ronayne stepped down as Tipperary senior ladies football manager last month after guiding the Premier County to four national titles in as many years.

After serving as selector for two years, the current Mourneabbey boss was in line to succeed Eamonn Ryan in the Cork ladies football hotseat in 2016 before taking the Tipp role.

The secondary school teacher led Mourneabbey to back-to-back All-Ireland ladies club titles in 2018 and 2019.
