Former Galway goalkeeper Fergal Flannery has joined the Sligo senior hurling backroom team.

The Padraig Pearses clubman, who represented the Tribesmen between 2012 and 2019, will link up with his fellow county man Padraig Mannion in the Yeats County ahead of the 2022 season as a replacement for the outgoing Declan Molloy.

Mannion, who guided Sligo to back-to-back Allianz Hurling League promotions and a place in the Christy Ring Cup semi-finals for the first time this year, will be joined once more by selector and coach Donal Tully.

Meanwhile, Derek Walsh has been ratified as Mayo senior hurling manager for another two-year term after leading the county to Nicky Rackard Cup glory at Croke Park back in July.
