Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-19

Killeedy 1-19

 

A fantastic performance led Dromcollogher/Broadford past Killeedy in the Junior A Hurling Quarter Final on Sunday afternoon in a sunny Newcastle West. Well done to our Management team of James Noonan, Adrian Cahill, Ray Lynch, Colm Meaney and the great panel of players led by Kevin Noonan as captain.

 

Padraig Ahern scored the first two points for Killeedy and then Denis Donegan scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point between the sides.  Padraig Ahern scored the next point for Killeedy and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next coming from Denis Donegan from a wide angle to leave a point between the sides once again.  Padraig Ahern scored another point from Killeedy to lead by two points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford grew into the game scoring the next four points and these points came from with two of these coming from Derry McCarthy and the other points came from Brian Ahern and another from Denis Donegan who was having a huge influence on the game to give us the lead by two points for the first time before the first water break. Killeedy scored the next 1-3 of the game with the goal coming from Padraig Ahern and two points came from Padraig Ahern and other point came from PJ Bourke to lead by five points and Dromcollogher Broadford with it all to do. The fightback was immediate however with  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scoring  the next 1-1 of the game with the goal coming from James Molyneaux as he led the Killeedy defence on a merry dance before finishing smartly on 25 minutes to put two points between the sides.   Padraig Ahern of Killeedy and Derry McCarthy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged pointed frees and then Derry McCarthy scored the next pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point between the sides.  Killeedy scored the next two points and these points came from Peter Mulcahy and Padraig Ahern just before the break to leave three points between the sides at end of the half.  To leave the score at half-time Killeedy 1-11 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-08. 

 

Dromcollogher/ Broadford roared out of the blocks after the interval scored the next 1-4 with the goal coming from James Molyneaux who latched onto a long delivery from Garett Noonan to bury his second goal .Two of these points came from Derry McCarthy and the other points came from Denis Donegan and James Molyneaux . Then Killeedy scored the next two points and these points came from Jack Long and Padraig Ahern.  Derry McCarthy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Padraig Ahern of Killeedy exchanged pointed frees and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the four points to take control of the game with our team now winning a lot of the key battles around the field. Three of these coming from Derry McCarthy and the other point came from Brian Noonan to lead by four points. The games key moment came soon after when a Killeedy attack that looked certain to end in a goal was denied by a stunning save from Mike Boyce diving to his right to divert the ball away.   Padraig Ahern of Killeedy and Derry McCarthy exchanged points and then another point from Derry McCarthy to give us a lead of three points which was held onto by some wholehearted defending and work rate from backs and forwards alike. A late shot from Killeedy was again dealt with by Boyce and his clearance brought the full time whistle and jubilation on the sideline and the socially distanced support. This left the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-19 to Killeedy 1-19 and the boys move onto a County Semi Final in two weeks with the opponent as yet unknown.

This was a very one-sided game, played down in Dromcollogher, we were well beaten on the night by much better and stronger team on the night, the above club would like to thank the management team of Adrian Cahill, Brian Downes and Pat McCarthy and the panel of players led by Conor Brosnan captain. 

 

Adare scored the first goal of the game inside the first minute of the game and then Brian Stack replied with a point from a free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave two points between the sides. Adare scored the next three points to lead by five points at the water break and then Thomas Fitzgerald replied with a point from play for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave four points between the sides.  Adare scored the next two points to leave six points between the sides and then Thomas Fitzgerald replied with the next pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides.  Adare scored the next 1-2 of the game with goal coming in the 24 minute of the game to lead by 10 points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 2-1 of the game with two goals, both excellent finishes , from Brian Stack  and the point came from Thomas Fitzgerald to leave three points between the sides at the break and Dromcollogher/Broadford back in the game.  To leave the score at half-time Adare 2-7 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-4.

Adare scored the first four points of the second half to leave seven points between the sides and then Brian Stack replied with the next pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave six points between the sides.  Adare scored the next point of the game to leave seven points between the sides and then Brian Stack replied with next pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave six points between the sides at the water break. Adare scored the next 1-3 of the game to leave 11 points and then Christopher Cotter replied with next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford from long range  to leave 10 points between the sides.  Adare scored the last three points of the game to leave 13 points between the sides at end of the game. To leave the score at full-time Adare 3-17 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-7.
