Dromcollogher/Broadford ensured qualification for the quarter finals of the county championship with a strong start leading to an 8 point win over Ahane.  The final table reads as follows: Claghaun 10 points, Dromcollogher/ Broadford 8 points, Crecora/ Manister 5 points, Monagea 4 points, Ahane 2 points, Staker Wallace a point.

 

Derry McCarthy scored the first 1-1 of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford with the goal coming in the first minute of the game running onto some good build-up play and the point from play and then Ahane scored the next point from play to leave three points between the sides.  Derry McCarthy scored the next two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides and then Ahane scored the next point of the game to leave four points between the sides.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points of the game with two coming from Derry McCarthy and the other points came from Paul Madigan and James Molyneaux to leave eight points between the sides and Dromcollogher/Broadford in firm control. Ahane fought back well and scored the next two points just before the water break to leave six points between the sides.  Derry McCarthy scored the next point of the game to leave seven points between the sides and then Ahane scored the next three points to leave four points between the sides. Derry McCarthy scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides and then Ahane scored the next four points to leave a point between the sides.  Derry McCarthy scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford just before the break to leave two points between the sides at end of the half and the result back in doubt.  This left the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-10 to Ahane 0-11.

 

Ahane scored the first point of the second half to leave a point between the sides and then Denis Donegan scored the next point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave two points between the sides.  Ahane scored the next point to leave a point between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-2 of the game to leave by six points with the goal coming from Denis Donegan latching onto a long delivery to finish well with 40 minutes gone in the game and the points tacked on from Derry McCarthy and Damien Burke.  Ahane scored the next point of the game to leave five points between the sides at the water break and then Paul Madigan scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave six points between then sides.  Ahane scored the next point to leave five points between sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-3 of the game with the goal coming from Michael O’Sullivan just introduced from the bench and with two of these from Brian Ahern and the other point coming from Derry McCarthy to leave 11 points between the sides.  Ahane scored the next point of the game to leave 10 points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points and these points came from Denis Donegan and Derry McCarthy scored to leave 12 points between the sides. 

Ahane scored the next point of the game to leave 11 points between the sides and then Damien Burke of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the final point of the game for Dromcollogher/Broadford to leave 12 points between the sides.  Ahane scored the last 1-1 of the game with 62 minutes gone in the game to leave 8 points between the sides and we play Killeedy in the Quarter Final, on next Sunday September 20th, in Newcastle West, at 12 noon.  This left the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 3-20 to Ahane 1-18.

In a must win encounter with Crecora/ Manister on last Tuesday evening in Knocklong, a final quarter burst of high quality scores ensured Dromcollogher/Broadford went into the final game with Ahane with their hopes of qualification still intact. The team showed tremendous resolve to fire back from a nine point deficit during a difficult opening half against a strong wind. 

 

Crecora/ Manister scored the first two points of the game and then Derry McCarthy replied with pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point between the sides.  Crecora/ Manister scored their goal of the game with 8 minutes gone in the game and then Damien Burke of Dromcollogher/ Broadford replied with a point to leave three points between the sides. Crecora/ Manister scored their second goal of the goal with 12 minutes gone in the game to leave six points between the sides and then Crecora/ Manister scored two more points before the water break to lead by eight points.  Crecora/ Manister scored the next point to lead by nine points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next three points to leave six points between the sides and these points came from Derry McCarthy, Keith Lacey, and Jimmy Kiely.

Crecora/ Manister scored the next point of the to leave seven points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford crucially scored the last two points of the half to leave five points between the sides at the break and these points came from Keith Lacey and Derry McCarthy.  This left the score at half-time Crecora/ Manister 2-6 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-7.  Crecora/ Manister scored the first point of the to lead by six points once again and then Derry McCarthy scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides once again.  Crecora/ Manister scored again to leave six points between the sides once again and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points of the game coming from Denis Donegan and Derry McCarthy to leave four points between the sides.  Crecora/ Manister scored another point to leave five points between the sides and then Derry McCarty scored two more pointed frees for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave three points between the sides at the water break.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford completely grabbed the initiative after the break and some fantastic passages of play combined with some tenacious hassling of the opposition led to the next six points to take the lead for the first time during with 51 minutes gone in the game Derry McCarthy scored four of these points and the other two came from Denis Donegan and Crecora/ Manister scored the next point to a leave a point between the sides  before Dromcollogher/Broadford scored the next four points with some superb score taking  with two of these points coming from Derry McCarthy and these points came from Damien Burke and James Molyneaux to lead by five points with 61 minutes gone in the game.  Crecora/ Manister scored their third goal of the game with 32 minutes gone in the game to leave two points between the sides at end of the game.  This left the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-21 to Crecora/ Mainster 3-10.

This was a very one sided game with Knockaderry were the much better and stronger team on the night and the above the club with like to thank the management team of Adrian Cahill, Eoin Barry, Derry McCarthy, Colm Meaney and the panel of players led by their captain Graham Roche for their effort during the game and we still are left in the football in which we all qualified for the Quarter Final.

 

Edward Brenan scored the next the first point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and then Knockaderry scored the next 2-3 of the game to lead by seven points with 13 minutes in the game.  Brian Ahern scored the next two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave six points between the sides and then Knockaderry scored the point to leave seven points between the sides.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next two points to leave five points between the sides and these points came from Brian Ahern and Killian Cahill and then Knockaderry scored the next point of the game to lead by six points at end of the half.  To leave the score at half-time Knockaderry 2-5 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-5.

 

Killian Cahill scored the first point of the second half for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to put five points between the sides and then Knockaderry scored the next 1-3 of the game to leave 11 points between the sides.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-1 of the game with both scores coming from Brian Ahern with 51 minutes in the game to leave seven points between the sides and then Knockaderry scored the next 1-3 of the game with 63 minutes gone in the game to leave 13 points between the sides end of the game.  To leave the score at full-time Knockaderry 4-11 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-07.

This was a very tight game with our two goals came from James Noonan and Brian Stack and this was also our first win in the Junior B Hurling Championship. 

 

Tournafulla scored the first point of the game and then Thomas Fitzgerald scored pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring sides for the first time during the game.  Tournafulla scored the next point of the game to take lead once again and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored another pointed free coming from Thomas Fitzgerald to bring sides for the second time during the game.  Tournafulla scored the next two points of the game to lead by two points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-2 of the game to take lead for the first time during the game by three points with 14 minutes gone in the game with the goal coming from James Noonan following excellent work from Cillian Shine and the points coming from Jack Pierce and Thomas Fitzgerald to lead by three points. Tournafulla scored the next point of the game to leave two points between the sides and then Brian Stack scored a point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to put three points at the water break.  Tournafulla scored the next point of the game to leave two points between the sides and Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 1-1 of the game both coming form frees with the goal coming from Brian Stack with 24 minutes gone in the game with a rocket of a 21 yard free that caught Tournafulla unawares and the point came from Thomas Fitzgerald and to leave six points between the sides.  Tournafulla scored the next point of the game and then Brian Stack scored the next point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford.  Tournafulla scored the last point of the half to leave five points between the sides at the break.  To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-7 and Tournafulla 0-8.

 

Tournafulla scored the next three points of the game to leave two points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next three points with two of these points came from Brian Stack and the other point cam from Jack Pierce to lead by five points.  Tournafulla scored the next two points of the game to leave three points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the three points coming from Cillian Shine, a solo effort from Graham Roche and Brian Stack to leave six points between the sides.  Tournafulla scored the next goal of the game with 59 minutes gone in the game to leave three points between the sides and then Cillian Shine added the insurance point to leave four points between the sides at end of the game.  To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-14 to Tournafulla 1-13.

This was a very one sided game and the result did not match as both teams had already qualified for the Quarter Finals before the game happened, our goals on the night came: Edward Brennan 2 goals, Granham Roche, Lee Foley, Brian Ahern all a goal each.

 

Crecora/ South Liberties scored the first point of the game and then Brian Ahern replied with a pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford. Crecora/ South Liberties scored the next point and then Brian Ahern replied with two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to give us the lead for the first time during the game and the South Liberties scored the next 1-2 of the game to take the lead once again by four points, with the goal coming in 15th minute of the game.  Brian Ahern scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a goal between the sides and then Crecora/ South Liberties replied with a point to put four points between the sides once again.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 2-1 before the break with the point coming from Brian Ahern and the goals coming from Graham Roche and Edward Brennan to lead by a goal at end of the game.  To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2-5 to South Liberties 1-5.

 

Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first three point of the second half and these points came from Brian Ahern, Edward Brennan and Granham Roche to lead by six points and then Crecora/ South Liberties scored the next point to leave five points between the sides.  Edward Brennan scored his second goal of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave eight points between the sides with 42 minutes gone in the game and then Crecora/ South Liberties scored the next three point to bring the margin back to down five points between the sides once again.  Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next 2-1 of the next game to leave 12 points between the sides at end of the game with the goals coming from Brian Ahern and Lee Foley and the point came from Tommy Ryan. To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 5-9 to Crecora/ South Liberties 1-9.

U12 Football Notes

On Tuesday night our footballers played their rearranged game against Newcastle West. On the night.  we had our biggest number of players this year of 22. These bunch of players put in a mighty display of football on the night, they moved the ball brilliantly from defence to attack finishing by getting great scores. This was a brilliant overall team performance ending up with a score of 9-5 to 1-1. A big thanks to Liam McGraynor for refereeing the game on the night. The panel of players were as follows: D. O’Connell, A. Cussen, S. Browne, A. O’Sullivan, D. Fealy, D.J. Cussen, C. Boyce, S. O’Flynn, J. Lenihan, R. Sheehan, B. Geary, O. Stokes, R O’ Dell, C. Burke, M. O’Kelly, C. McGarry, M. McCarthy, C. Curtin, B. Lenihan, T O’Flynn and R. White. Thanks for all the parents supporting the players for the future.

On Thursday night our footballers had their biggest challenge this season against a very strong St. Kieran’s team in coolcappa. Our boys really started well on the night, from the goalie to the forward line they defended every move St. Kieran’s made. Our boys really put in some great moves themselves and created great scores. All through the 45 minutes of the game all our boys worked extremely well from start to finish. It was very encouraging to have a big panel of players on the night. These bunch of players deserve all the praises they get, with all games I have being involved with this team their performance and discipline against St. Kieran’s was excellent best one yet. A big thanks to the referee John Hunt was he referee not an easy job to do. A big thank you to all the supporters it is great to see, it is very encouraging for the boys.
