Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cup final pairings confirmed

July 24, 2021

Down to the final stage in the Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cups.

The final pairings in the Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cups have been confirmed after a busy day of penultimate action across the All-Ireland hurling championships.

Michael Fennelly's Offaly surged into the Christy Ring Cup decider, where they will play Derry, with a colossal 6-30 to 0-10 hammering of 14-man Wicklow at Bord Na Mona O'Connor Park.

Wicklow had defender Ciaran Breen sent off on a straight red early on but they were always going to be up against it having shipped a 25-point defeat to the same opposition in the Allianz League.

Oisin Kelly (2), Brian Duignan, Killian Sampson, Leon Fox and Ben Conneely supplied the goals for the Faithfuls.

At Owenbeg, six points in either half from Cormac O'Doherty gave Derry a 0-28 to 2-17 win over an up and coming Sligo side.

Meanwhile, Mayo are back in the Nicky Rackard Cup final after producing a strong second-half performance to see off Armagh in Carrick-on-Shannon, 2-23 to 2-9.

Derek Walsh’s men will now face Tyrone, who ran out 2-23 to 1-21 winners against Ulster rivals Donegal in Carrickmore.

The Lory Meagher Cup final, meanwhile, will be an all-Ulster affair, as Cavan take on neighbours Fermanagh.

A Brian Fitzgerald goal at the death secured a first final appearance for Cavan as they dethroned Louth 1-21 to 0-20 at Kingspan Breffni.

At Glennon Brothers Pearse Park, the Erne County overcame 13-men Longford by 1-21 to 1-13.

The games will take place next Saturday, 31 July with full fixture details to be confirmed by the GAA this week.
