The GAA has said that breaches of the current collective training ban by counties and clubs have ‘brought the spotlight on our Association.’

Compliance with public health guidance is crucial by GAA units or it will undermine the work done by the majority of members during the Pandemic according to Croke Park.

The latest comment from the GAA came in the monthly newsletter and follows on from photographs of Dublin footballers collectively training last week, a move that has brought considerable criticism of the All-Ireland holders and also the wider GAA.

Down and Cork footballers were also punished for training breaches since the start of the year while there is currently an investigation in Cork into allegations that a club broke public health guidelines.

Writing in the April GAA Newsletter, the Association raises the issue of compliance.

“Vigilance remains absolutely vital. So too, does compliance with public health guidance.

“Breaches at club and county level in recent weeks have brought the spotlight on our Association and threaten to undermine the significant work done by the majority of members in the face of the Pandemic.”
