JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP RD 4

Raheen Junior Footballers are back in contention for a place in the Semi Finals of the Junior B Championship as they picked up their second win of the group stage with victory against Bracknagh in Rd 4 last Friday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-08. Raheen were deserving winners of this game having led from start to finish opening the scoring with a point on 2 mins followed by 2 more before getting the first goal on 5 mins when Shane Corcoran’s shot in from the left wing was caught by Mark Gorman in the square who turned and blasted it to the net to maintain his goal scoring streak of at least 1 goal in everyround so far. This apppears to have spurned Bracknagh into action as they got up and running with the next 4 points with Raheen responding with 4 points of their own before Bracknagh completed the first half scoring with 2 points in stoppage time to leave it 1-07 to  0-06 in favour of Raheen at the interval. Raheen were again first off the mark with the opening point of the second half before Bracknagh scored their first goal on 8 mins. A point apiece followed before Raheen pulled clear with 3 points to Bracknagh’s 1 in the last 5 mins of normal time and clinched it 3 mins into stoppage time when Mark Gorman blasted his and Raheen’s second goal of the game. Bracknagh were not giving up and went straight down the field to score their second goal but Raheen sealed it when John Tobin slotted over the final point 4 mins into stoppage time.
