Former Dublin attacker Jason Sherlock has become one of the front runners to succeed Seamus McEnaney as Monaghan’s next senior football manager.

There have been multiple reports that the 1995 All-Ireland SFC winner is the Farney County’s top priority target following McEnaney’s departure at the end of last month.

Sherlock was part of Jim Gavin’s backroom team in Dublin from 2015 to 2019 when the capital men landed an unprecedented five All-Ireland titles in-a-row.

Monaghan relegated Dublin back in March to preserve their Division 1 status in the Allianz League before Derry defeated them in the semi-finals of the Ulster championship and Mayo ended their season in the All-Ireland qualifiers.
