BC Blitz 2021 was held in Tully on Saturday last, with teams from Emyvale, Tyholland, Killeevan, Aghabog, Clontibret, Truagh, Clogher and Currin attending. In what proved to be a memorable day for everyone involved as occasions of this nature have been on pause since the beginning of Covid. Some great football was played in both the Shield and Cup Competitions. Our own Shield team gave every ounce of their energy reaching the semi final, playing their hearts out through extra time and getting narrowly pipped in a next point wins scenario. A terrible disappointment for these young players but remember that they will have next year! Congratulations to eventual Shield winners Truagh on their 5 pts – 3pts over Tyholland. The Cup finalists both came through tough semi finals, Emyvale overcame a tough Aghabog outfit while Tyholland made their second final of the day after what probably was the best game of the day when they faced off a talented Killeevan team. This game went to extra time, still finishing level. Tyholland just pipping it on next score wins. The final was another classic with the home side and neighbours Tyholland sharply trading scores. The game was won only in the last few minutes with an excellent take, turn and shoot from a kickout to provide Emyvale with the lead they richly deserved to win the game. A proud day for everyone involved with the team, club and the Colton family as this has proved to be rare win in one of the toughest juvenile tournaments around. After a speech from our juvenile chairperson, Shane Mc Cormack in which he explained about the Brendan Colton Memerial Blitz, he proudly handed the Cup over to this year's winning joint captains, Barney and Ignas. Congratulations to the winning team and coaches and mentors and also to the Shield semi finalists on great performances. Thank you to everyone who helped to make it such a great day, especially the Colton family, referees, all helpers and visiting teams.

Crawley Cup unfortunately it wasn’t to be on Saturday last in Blackhill. Where a good Inniskeen team took the spoils to win the Crawley Cup. In a game where we never really got into our stride and probably left some behind on the day. However, although we never got the win, it must be looked on a good reserve season, reaching two finals is not something that has been happening to Emyvale year on year, and is something the players and the highly regarded management team can rightly take some solace from. Some excellent performaces during the season particularly from some of the newer lads to the panel, bode well for the future.

U17’s had a fantastic home championship win over Doohamlet last Saturday on a scoreline of Emyvale 2:17 – 2:12 Doohamlet.

U15 Next div 1 Championship fixture is 11am Saturday 2nd Oct. at home to Clontibret in the shield semi final. While on Sunday the div.5 team face neighbours Truagh in Tully at 11am in the Cup semifinal. Please show your support for the lads if at all possible.

U13 training continues Tuesday and Thursdays. Challenge game on Tuesday evening in Tully v Aghabog at 6:30pm. Championship starts October 8th.
