Scotstown's Conor McCarthy celebrates after the Monaghan SFC final win over Ballybay

The club season just finished was a complete contrast to previous years with the championships played under a new format as a result of the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The championships, nevertheless produced some exciting games and performances for the ages by a number of individual players and while it was a different championship to what has been the norm in the county, the chairman of the County board Micheal McMahon was determined to press ahead and keep the champion fifteen scheme, his own brainchild, going for the season just ended in all three football competitions and in the hurling championship. The scheme was devised by the chairman himself as a means of giving recognition to the efforts of club players at all levels in the County and so far has been an outstanding success with the awards highly cherished by those who have received them.
