Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 24th September 2020

U-17: Castleblayney was the venue for last Sunday evening for the U-17 final between Emyvale and Latton. It was a glorious evening for football, and everyone was served a treat of footballing skills, determination and great attitude from both sides. Emyvale opened the scoring through the left boot of Luke Kelly and from there it was point for point leaving it 6pts each entering the waterbreak. When play resumed it was Emyvale who took a foothold with the opening goal of the game coming from an excellent move and finished by Aidan Mc Kenna. However, Latton responded within 2 minutes with a goal from Ryan Duffy. The half-time whistle sounded leaving Latton with a point ahead 1.8 to 1.7. Latton then hit a purple patch at the start of the second half scoring 1.1 without reply. Emyvale settled with a point from the efficient Aidan Mc Kenna and then he followed through shortly with Emyvales second goal leaving just 1pt in it again. Michael Hamill and Dylan Sherry got the next 2 points pushing Emyvale but Latton were not going to falter and hit there third goal of the game. At the second waterbreak Latton were ahead by 4points. Whatever Emyvale management did at this point seemed to work as they dominated the last quarter by hitting some excellent points from Michael, Luke, Aidan, Jake and the final score came from the right boot of Harvey Colleran. Final score 2.19 to 3.12. Michael Hamill captain of Emyvale accepted the cup and celebrations followed. Credit goes to both teams on serving up an excellent game of football and showing all spectators the quality both clubs possess. Well done to everyone involved with this minor winning team, whether it was players, managers, mentors or parents you all played your part.
