St. Vincents 1-10 Carnaross 0-8

Another lovely evening for a game of football, which started off with a minutes silence for Mrs. Anne Dunne, who passed away last Saturday. She was wife of the late Dickser Dunne and mother of St. Vincent’s current selector Davit Dunne. May Anne rest in peace.

St. Vincent’s continued their unbeaten run with a 1-10 v 0-8 victory.  The Vincent’s got off to a lively start with points from Eoghan Corry and a superb long range score from Adam Tuite.  Nigel Hand added to it with a free before Carnaross got on the score board to leave it 0-3 v 0-1 at the first water break.  

The second quarter began with another point from Adam Tuite, followed by a point from Eric Callaghan.  Carnaross got themselves another point but the Vincent’s were really on top now with Leo Corry getting a point before a brilliant goal by Nigel Hand. The goal game from a quickly taken free out near the middle as Eric Callaghan spotted Nigel Hand inside who got out quickly and won the ball and finished into the side of the net. Carnaross got a point next to lower the deficit. St. Vincent’s were nearly in for a second goal before half time but for a point blank save from the Carnaross goal keep to deny Eric Callaghan, but Eric scored the resulting 45 to leave the score at 1-7 v 0-3 at half time. 

The second half was a much scrappier affair with the first score coming in the 11th minute – a point for Carnaross which was followed up immediately by a point from substitute Tommy Fields.  Carnaross added another point only to be cancelled out by Nigel Hand just before the last water break. 

Carnaross were getting much more pocession now and they scored a free in the 16th minute but the game had gone scrappy with a lot of wides and misplaced passes from both teams. Adam Tuite got himself another point before Carnacross finished up with the last two scores of the game to leave the end score 1-10 to 0-8.
