Meath V Kildare

I can't believe some of the negativity on here since Sunday. Anyone that can't see how possitive this league has been to date clearly has issues understanding meath football. Most of the criticism is total nit picking and proves what I always suspected, alot of lads on here are happier when meath are struggling. And if you ever read any of my posts before you would know I'm not a blind optimist, the improvement in performances is as clear as day

Well I see nothing but positives.
I'll ask anyone if McGill and Reilly were two Dublin or Kerry players that pulled off that pinpoint pass and that sneaky run behind a defense the league on Sunday team would have been orgasmic in their praise.
That was a fantastic move.

Agreed, a lot on here believed we would struggle to avoid relegation, now we have a great chance of going up but we have played weakened teams and we seem no further on!!!!! There is a marked difference in our performances from last year, I was in Thurles last year v Tipp and saw the defeat to Cork in Navan, my God if the difference in attitude, work rate and performance can not be seen between those games and what we have produced this year then some people need a trip to the opticians. Last year we would never have won that game v Kildare and would have folded when under pressure v Armagh, players are playing with a greater belief and a greater fight and determination, as McEntee rightly said its not always a polished performance and there is plenty to work on and improve but the foundations are in and the basic requirements we all want to see of players in a Meath jersey are there and have brought us to this juncture, honestly from where we were at in the last few years I can do nothing but praise the improvements I have seen this year.

Straight from the training ground... McGill has been getting forward like that the last few games. Only a matter of time before the move came off.

Agree. Plenty of lads silent the last few weeks waiting for us to fail...

Was never so depressed about Meath football as the end of last year. There was something seriously wrong...

Have followed all the games this year and turnaround has been spectacular with the best yet to come methinks.

Am I right in saying Mcentee s team never played croker?

Replying To Crinigan:  "It only goes head to head if there are two teams tied. If three teams are tied, it goes to goal difference."
Crinigan go back. Re-read my post.

Scenario I present is as follows:

Fermanagh 12
Meath 10
Donegal 10

Fermanagh and Donegal go up.

We have to win our 2 games or hope Donegal drop any points. One win would put us up in that instance.

A McEntee team have not won back to back championship games.

Agreed. Winning games this year that we certainly would have lost last year and the year before that. So that is a massive positive.

The Donegal game was a freak accident. A howler. A mistake. We were going well with 4 points to the good miss a free to go 5 up with 5 to go and 90 seconds later it's a draw. We had at least 4 chances to salvage a result and couldn't. Every knows we were the better side on the night and deserved to win any Donegal fan there would say it. However, It may haunt us until the last second of the league.

At least we aren't out of the race or depending on others. It's all on us to see it through.

Wrong 3 times than I can think off, once with Ballyboden in the All-Ireland, and with twice with Meath Minors and semi and All-Ireland..... :) Ps I know you meant meath seniors,

Replying To seadog54:  "Major focus for next game is getting two points, forward play can and will be worked on, we can never get lost points back. Can you in all fairness compare our current play with the defensive shambles of the last few years?"
Yeah, I think I wasn't that clear in my original post I was ecstatic with the result, I was buzzing Sunday night, Nobody more delighted with that win than me. I guess what I was trying to say is. Most people where expecting the Kildare game to be a good gauge as where we are. But giving the atrocious condition's and poor start for Meath is was a strange game once again. And we needed a penalty in injury time to win it (full deserved). But not your average game. So I was trying figure out what people that of it in that context. Some excellent replies in fairness.
