Bhulf Ton 2-19 Ratoath 1-12 in Pairc Baile Ghib

Ratoath had the better of the opening minutes and were not flattered by a 0-4 to 0-1 lead, the Tones score a brilliant solo effort from Sean Penny who carved open the visitors defence with a trademark run. Tones tidied up their play and hit three in a row from Oisin Martin, Conor Sheppard and Caolán Ward (f) to level the game. Shortly afterwards a long distance sideline kick from Saran O Fionnagain was won by Fiachra Ward who fed Kyle Moran who rounded the last defender and cooly finished to find the net. The sides added two points each to leave it Bhulf Ton 1-6 Ratoath 0-6 at half time.

The home side hit 1 04 early in the second half which put them in control of the game, Kyle Moran (f), Caolan Ward (’45) and Thomas O Reilly (0-2) added the points. The goal move was initiated by Alan Callaghan who won the Ratoath kickout. Alan played a long ball to Fiachra Ward, he fed Caolan Ward who found the net. Tones 2-10  Ratoath 1-6. Ratoath rallied and hit a goal and a two pointer, which was answered by a Kyle Moran two pointer and a Caolan Ward point. Ratoath again refused to yield hitting a one and a two pointer. The score was now Bhulf Ton 2-13 Ratoath 1-12. However, Tones struck for home and hit six without reply.

The pitch was in splendid condition and the conditions were warm and dry and perfect for football which enabled a very lively entertaining game. This was a cohesive team performance by the Tones with impressive performers in every line of the field. Conor Mc Keever made his first start of the season in Div 1 and was reliable throughout. Brughach O Fionnagain made an impressive return after suffering an injury in the Feis Cup match between these same teams earlier in the season, while Alan Lynam continued his return from long term injury and made a good contribution when replacing the injured Sean Penny early in the game. 

Next up a repeat of the County final pairing, Dunshaughlin away on 24th May.
