Dunshaughlin 1-9, Na Fianna 0-7
On a bitterly cold but sunny Saturday, following the passing of Storm Darragh, the U19 Division 3 Final between Dunshaughlin and Na Fianna Gaa Meath took place.
Both teams, known for their black and amber colours, donned their alternate kits, with Dunshaughlin sporting their lucky 1886 inspired red jersey, a tribute to their guiding light, much like the North Star.
The teams also battled the lingering gusts of Storm Darragh throughout the match.
Dunshaughlin, playing with the wind advantage in the first half, surged ahead with a 0-5 to 0-0 lead after 20 minutes. The challenging conditions made free-flowing football difficult, but Dunshaughlin managed to edge out scoring opportunities. Na Fianna fought hard and managed to register a point before halftime.
Just minutes into the second half, Dunshaughlin's Jack Smith struck for a crucial goal — a defining moment in the game
However, Na Fianna, undeterred by the setback, hit a purple patch and mounted a determined comeback. Their relentless pressure kept the game on edge, but Dunshaughlin's defence held firm. Despite Na Fianna's best efforts, the early lead and crucial goal secured a hard-fought victory for Dunshaughlin.
The final whistle marked a well-deserved win for Dunshaughlin, crowning them U19 Division 3 champions. This victory adds another championship to Dunshaughlin's incredible year, following the historic senior men's and ladies' double triumphs.
