The O'Mahonys Under 15 Premier squad

Navan O’Mahony’s 0-06 St. Patricks 2-11

It wasn’t to be for the Hoops in the U15 premier final in Piltown.

It was St. Patricks that had the better of the opening exchanges and led by 0-04 to 0-02 after the opening quarter. Tom McGuinness utilising his dead-ball expertise to keep the Hoops within touching distance.

It was O’Mahonys that had the better of the exchanges in the second quarter and were unlucky to head in to half time in arrears. Points from play from Daniel Joseph, Bobby Gaffney and another pointed free from Tom McGuinness were cancelled out by a fortuitous long distance goal that was aided by the howling breeze.

This was as good as it got for the Hoops as St.Pats came out in the second half buoyed by the late first half goal. They reeled off 4 unanswered points in the opening 4 minutes of the second half and they never looked back. The final scoreline didn’t reflect the tough battle that was witnessed by all in attendance.

A fantastic year for the U15 premier team who reached both the league final and the championship, coming up just short on both occasions
