St Oliver Plunketts Navan claimed the Allianz Meath Cumann na mBunscol Boys Division 1 Shield title in fine style with seven points to spare over Gaelscol Thulach na nÓg Dhún Búinne in the third game of the day at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

Captain Joe Kearney, whose father Ned led the school to the Division 1 title in 1990, gave an exhibition for the winners and finished with 2-7. Dunboyne were first off the mark and led 1-2 to 0-0 after ten minutes, the goal coming after a from Charlie MacSeoin-Ó Neill. Olivers began to find their rhythm and three quick fire goals from Harry Duane, Kearney and Conor Mulchrone put them in control and they led at the break 3-3 to 1-3.

Gaelscol Thulach na nÓg narrowed the gap early in the second half with a Aidan Ó Meachair goal but Kearney replied instantly with his second major to quash any hopes of a comeback. Six unanswered points followed that goal for the winners before Caelan Ó Dubha scored a brilliant individual goal for Dunboyne. Tadhg Ó Dubhda raised another green flag for the Dunboyne school in the closing stages to narrow the gap as the Navan school ran out deserving winners
