Kildalkey 3-16 Dunderry 0-14
2021 Billy Byrne holders Kildalkey are back in the 2022 final thanks to this semifinal victory at home to Dunderry.
Dunderry we’re also the opposition in last years final and proved a tough nut to crack again.
Evan Fitzgerald got the blues off the mark with an excellent sideline cut followed by 3 Will Power frees.
Fitzgerald again from play hit a lovely point after turning his man and Luke Rickard struck Kildalkey’s first goal of the night.
Power with 2 Brian Coneely and Ryan Byas got further points before kelvin Lynch got Kildalkey’s second goal just before halftime with a fine individual effort to leave his team in front 2-9 to 0-8 up at the break.
Evan Fitzgerald hit his third point on the resumption followed by 2 more Power frees left them 2-12 to 0-11 at the three quarter stage.
Steven Murray was introduced into the fray and had an immediate impact as he struck the next 1-2 Luke Rickard and kelvin Lynch closed the scoring as Kildalkey ran out winners on a 3-16 to 0-14 score line sub goalie Colm Barry made a couple of top class saves when introduced at the end of the game Paul Fagan was solid in goals with another clean sheet. Martin Doran, Enda Fitzgerald, Tiernan Bird and Ross Flynn stifled Dunderry attacks with some rock solid defending with Doran in particular like a magnet under the dropping ball. Ryan Byas, Brian Coffey, Brian Coneely, Kelvin Lynch, Evan Fitzgerald and Steven Murray all had great moments getting their club to another final.
