October 22, 2021

St. Vincents Robbie Lynch

St. Vincent’s 2-9 Donnaghmore/Ashbourne 1-4

St. Vincent’s made the short trip to Ashbourne for the last game in the division before the knockout stages and a win guaranteed a semi-final.  It was a comfortable 8 point win for the Ardcath men in the finish.

The first half began with 4 unanswered points from St. Vincent’s. Two apiece for Robbie Lynch and Conor Early. It wasn’t until the 22 minute that Ashbourne found the target after a few bad wides.  Eoin Hand got the Vincent’s next point to put four between them again but Ashbourne scored the last two points of the half to leave it 0-5 to 0-3 at the break.

The second half began with a Robbie Lynch free which was answered by Ashbourne in the 8th minute.  An excellent point from Conor Early in the 9th minute put the Vincent’s 3 up and looking in control until a mix up at the back in the 11th minute let Ashbourne in for a goal to level it.  But just before the water break a cross ball was met in the square by the inrushing Micheál Tallon to put the score 1-7 to 1-4 at the second water break.

The last quarter was all Vincent’s with points from Robbie Lynch and Conor Early either side of an Eoin Hand goal.

It’s Trim next for St. Vincent’s in the Semi-Final.
