Hurls at the ready for the Kiltale v Kildalkey SHC clash at Pairc Tailteann

The group stages have come to an end in the Meath hurling championship and left us with some mouthwatering quarter-final and semi-final pairings to look forward to.

We pick our best XV from another great weekend of action.

Conor Ryan, Kiltale: Produced a couple of outstanding saves that proved crucial in the end as Brian Gilsenan’s charges advanced to the knockout stages.

Iarla Hughes, Kiltale: The usual solid and dependable display from the tigerish defender as Kildalkey were defeated at Pairc Tailteann.

Luke Moran, Trim: As ever solid and dependable at the heart of the Trim defence as the holders defeated Na Fianna and booked their place in the quarter final, a spot that looked very unlikely after the opening two rounds.

Brian O’Reilly, Kiltale: A rock in the Kiltale full back line and cleared time and again in their four point win over the 2019 champions at Navan.

Mairtin Doran, Kildalkey: What you see is what you get with the Village stalwart. Another display of solid and courageous defending despite that loss to Kiltale.

James Kelly, Kiltale: Back in great form. A leader in the Kiltale defence and chipped in with two great points in their win over Kildalkey.

Trevor Healy, Rathmolyon: Covered every blade of grass on the perfect St. Lomans pitch for the Village cause. Some brilliant link play and great vision in possession as Boardsmill were beaten in that top of the table clash at Trim.

Padraig O’Hanrahan, Ratoath: On a day when scores from placed balls were to prove crucial O’Hanrahan, not for the first time duly obliged. The county man hit 1-10 in their 13 point win over Longwood.

Diarmuid O'Donnchadha, Clann na nGael: His influence when moving to midfield was key to victory over Blackhall Gaels. His penetrative runs resulted in frees being awarded to the Clanns and some fine scores taken from play.

Joey Cole, Trim: His two early goals were crucial as the Jubilee Cup holders got the perfect start in that must win game against Na Fianna at Rathmolyon.

Damien Healy, Longwood: A real handful for the Ratoath defence and finished top scorer with 3-1 as a depleted Longwood lost out in Trim.

Adam Gannon, Killyon: 2-3 for the county star as Killyon defeated Wolfe Tones and qualified for a quarter-final clash with Kiltale.

Sean Quigley, Dunboyne: Gave an outstanding display scoring 1-5 as Paul Reilly’s charges topped Group B and qualified for the quarter final against holders Trim.

Gavin McGowan, Ratoath: Back to his best form after injury and was the standout player, scoring 2-3, for last year's finalists as they struggled for long periods to see off a dogged Longwood at Trim.

Daragh Gilmartin, Dunboyne: Having a great year in the Black and Amber. Unmarkable when the ball is played right to him. Scored five points in their win over Kilmessan.
