IHC: Kilskyre Moylagh slog it out

September 21, 2021

Kilskyre/Moylagh's Sean Tunney

Kilskyre-Moylagh 0:15  Gaeil Colmcille 1:08

This fixture won’t go down in the memory as a classic but like many local derby matches it’s all about the result and this time it was Kilskyre Moylagh who came out on top.

Michael Geraghty opened the scoring for Kilskyre Moylagh on the sixth minute after a brisk opening few minutes where no quarter was given and both sides trying to find their range. That was followed by two from Willie McGrath and Kilskyre Moylagh looked to be getting into their stride but three wasted overly ambitious attempts from the wing gave Gaeil Colmcille the opportunity to get themselves going which they did with opening scores from Fionn Ferguson. It was nip and tuck up to the end of the first water break when Kevin Foley converted and outstanding point from the middle of the field with Sean Tunney adding another from play to regain control for Kilskyre Moylagh.

From that point on the game got messy, a lot of silly frees conceded within range by both sides with McGrath and Ferguson popping them over all day both sides were keeping their opponents in the game.

To be fair Kilskyre Moylagh were the better side overall but with Junior Reilly sent off for a second yellow card and fifteen minutes remaining they needed to dig deep against a flawed, but fit Gaeil Colmcille who were never going to die away.
