U15 FC Div 6: Brave Michaels/Nobber lose out to Slane

Ryan Gaffney gains possession for St. Michaels/Nobber against Slane

Michaels/Nobber 2-16, Slane 5-10                                            

Those who were in attendance at this U-15 championship match in Carlanstown on Sunday afternoon were treated to an excellent game of football which remained in the balance right up to the final whistle.                                                                                                          

Slane wasted no time in getting on the board with their first goal coming in the opening minute however top marksman on the day the talented young Garóid O'Malley opened the scoring for the home side after a couple of minutes. Gustas Povecivios netted for the north Meath combination side while Evan Nelson, Cathal Walsh and O'Malley all added points to lead by 1-4 to 1-2 at the first water break.

Slane added their second major midway through the second quarter from the penalty spot however the St. Michaels / Nobber lads were a point to the good at the short whistle thanks to points from Stephen Dolan Stafford, Walsh and O'Malley, 1-08 to 2-04. 

Korede Otubango and O'Malley were on target in the third quarter for the home side however Slane dominated the quarter to lead by 3-08 to 1-11 at the second water break. 

Slane added their fourth major straight after the re-start but the St. Michaels/Nobber lads  tightened up the rearguard in the final quarter and drew level on 52 minutes following a goal from Alex Clarke and further points from Nelson and Otubango. Slane hit the front again following another point and although O'Malley added two further points from frees Slane hit the winning score, their fifth goal two minutes into injury time to grab both points.
