HS Club Football Team of the Week

September 17, 2021

The live streaming of club games has proved an outstanding success and hopefully after Covid-19 it is here to stay.

And just like that the group stages come to an end. After last weekend some clubs are finished for the year, some have knockout football to look forward to while others have the threat of relegation hanging over their heads.

Here’s our Best XV from round 3 of the football championship.

1 Ryan Shekleton, Meath Hill: An excellent display from the number 1 that yielded four points in that must win encounter with North Meath rivals Syddan.

2 James Reilly, Gaeil Colmcille: To the fore in a tenacious rearguard that provided a platform for the attack as last year's finalists advanced to the knockout stages at Pairc Tailteann.

3 David Raleigh, Ballivor: The club dual star has made our team again. Exceptional at both defending and attacking as last year's JFC winners snuffed out the threat of Mickey Newman to advance to the knockout stages.

4 Seamus Lavin, Dunboyne: The leader in the St. Peters defence. Another impressive outing for the county man in their win over Summerhill.

5 Oisin Miland, Duleek Bellewstown: His raids from the half back line gave Drumbaragh endless problems The talented defender scored two points and was involved in his team's first goal at Simonstown.

6 Richie Coffey, Ballinabrackey: His brilliant goal at the beginning of the second half gave the Bracks the platform they needed to raise their game and eventually earn a draw with Na Fianna.

7 Ross Kerrigan, Longwood: Boundless energy and brilliant vision when in possession saw the half back have a major impact as Longwood secured IFC status with a win over Moylagh.

8 Donal Keogan, Rathkenny: Not for the first time ‘the drive’ behind his team's performance. The provider for Coalach Halligan and Keith Curtis on many occasions in their easy win over St. Michaels at Nobber.

9 Jack Donnelly, Dunboyne: Along with countyman Ronan Jones they dominated the midfield sector against Summerhill with Donnelly also kicking two points.

10 Dylan Brady, Donaghmore Ashbourne: The Moors best player and scorer of three points as Mick Deegan’s men advanced to the quarter final with a win over Dunshaughlin in Skryne.

11 Jordan Morris, Nobber: If Anthony Monaghan’s squad are to bounce back to the senior grade it will require more performances like this from their county star. Morris chipped in with 1-8 in their win over St. Pats to set up a quarter final meeting with Oldcastle.

12 Seamus Mattimoe, Gaeil Colmcille: Top scorer with a goal and seven and the most dynamic figure in his side's attack as Lar Wall’s charges defeated Simonstown at Pairc Tailteann.

13 Bryan McMahon, Ratoath: The county star was immaculate from dead balls all night and scored 1-7 in their third round win over O’Mahonys under lights in Donore.

14 Cian O’Neill, Wolfe Tones: The ideal target man when the Tones decide to ‘go long’. His 2-1 went a long way in seeing off the Moynalvey challenge at Fr. McManus Park.

15 Luke Martyn, Dunderry: The star man in the full forward line scored 2-3 in their win over Ballinlough at St. Lomans Park to set up a quarter final meeting with Ballivor.
