Feis Cup: Powerful first half sets Na Fianna up for win

June 17, 2021

Na Fianna's Ethan Devine

Na Fianna: 2-13 Ballinabrackey; 1-12

A powerful first half performance was enough to earn Na Fianna their second win from as many outings in Ballinabrackey on Wednesday evening.

Ethan Devine, Jamie Queeney and Jack McNally hit early points as the visitors went 0-3 ahead and the Bracks hit back with two points before the water break.

Jack McNally slotted a nice goal on the restart after a good Sean Rafferty run and Ethan Devine buried to the net shortly after when Jake McCreddin caught a wonderful kick out.

A rampant Na Fianna hit five more unanswered points including two from

Owen McDonnell as they blitzed the home side. Ballinabrackey then had a late point to leave it 2-08 to 0-3 at half time.

Ballinabrackey scored the first two points after the break but Daniel Queeney answered with a point for Na Fianna. This was followed by a wonderful long range point from Ben Caldwell.

Michael Collins hit his second point followed by two more Daniel Queeney points as the home side looked to wrap the win up. Shane Geraghty was once more to the fore for Na Fianna, making a string of point blank saves to keep the goals out.

A late scoring burst of 1-03 from Ballinabrackey was too little too late to snatch anything as Na Fianna claimed their second win.
