Sad to report the passing of one of St. Peters Dunboyne most respected club members Seán Boylan.
Ther club paid tribute to Séan on their Facebook page.
A collection of words, from a collection of friends.
A real sense of sadness has descended upon St. Peter’s GAA Club since the news reached us of the passing of Seán Boylan, one of the most popular and respected of our Club members.
The club is greatly indebted to Seán and his family for the long and distinguished role they have played in the development of Gaelic Games in Dunboyne. In recent years, his son Brendan served as Club PRO.
Seán’s brother Jimmy also played an important role in club affairs when he was the Club’s highly respected Treasurer for many years. As well as being a great supporter, Seán, along with his brother Tom played senior hurling for the club. Seán is fondly remembered as a formidable operator on the edge of the square, in his favourite position of full forward.
Until illness unfortunately intervened, Seán attended Dunboyne and Meath matches regularly. Whether at a match or wherever one was lucky enough to meet him, it was always a pleasure to engage with him in conversation. He was gifted with a marvellous memory and his knowledge of happenings and events in Dunboyne over the course of his life would often be recalled in his own inimitable and self-deprecating style.
Seán will be deeply mourned by his wife June and their large extended family. Everyone in our community and beyond, who was fortunate enough to have known Seán will also join with them in grieving for him and wishing eternal peace to his gentle soul.
As dheis lámh Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
