‘Goals win games’ is a phrase often associated with gaelic football and that proved to be the case in Saturday’s Boys Division 1 football as St Colmcille’s BNS edged out Ratoath Senior Primary School by two points.
Goals from Oisín Breathnach (2), Sé MacManús and Aindriú Ó Garmaile were key as the Kells boys successfully defended their title.
Breathnach and MacManús raised green flags in the opening period and helped their team take a 2-3 to 1-1 lead into the half-time break.
Kieran Óg McConville and captain Aaron McElvaney registered three pointers for Ratoath in either half but they finished on the wrong end of the scoreline.
Further goals from Breathnach and Ó Garmaile edged St Colmcille’s over the line with their nose in front.
