Knockmore 1-12

Breaffy 0-13

Knockmore staged a strong second-half display to bridge a 23-year gap and claim the Mayo SFC title at Breaffy's expense at MacHale Park this afternoon.

Having trailed by two points at the break (0-7 to 1-2), a goal from Darren McHale had kept the winners in touch after they made a bright start to lead 1-1 to 0-0.

Breaffy sent over six points in succession to put themselves infront at half-time and moved further ahead on the restart when Aidan O'Shea made the scoresheet. The outstanding McHale regained control for Knockmore with two points before Peter Naughton levelled matters.

Tommy O'Reilly regained the lead momentarily for Breaffy but Ray Dempsey's charges replied with a flurry of points to seize the initiative.
