ST BRIDES 2-8
SEAN O’MAHONYS 1-7
St Brides are just 60 minutes from a return to Senior football after coming through their semi-final clash with Sean O’Mahonys at Darver on Sunday afternoon.
The Knockbridge side emerged from a tough contest with a four-point victory and overall were worthy winners as they set up a meeting with Kilkerley Emmets in the decider.
First half goals from Andrew Smith and Emmet Kirk laid the foundations for the win as the Brides held out in a low-scoring second half.
Although it was the Brides who were first off the mark, the O’Mahonys gave themselves a boost when Ben McLaughlin found the net on five minutes. However, the village side didn’t panic and hit back to level at 0-5 to 1-2 before Smith scored his side’s first goal, and a second just before the break put the Brides 2-6 to 1-3 in front.
In what proved to be a low-scoring second period the Brides always look in control despite adding just two points to their tally. The O’Mahonys battled to get back into the game with points from Stephen Fisher but couldn’t get through for the goal they needed to threaten a comeback.
