GLEN EMMETS 1-8

Robbie Brodigan struck a dramatic late winner at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday afternoon to see his side retain their Intermediate Championship status for 2021.

The relegation final looked destined for extra-time when Conor Grimes fired over a late equaliser, but the Drogheda men snatched the victory when Brodigan pointed two minutes into injury-time.

It was a heart-breaking end for the Tullyallen men who will drop down to the Junior Championship as a result of this defeat.

There was never much between the teams throughout the game and after the opening two points had been shared, Grimes gave his side a great boost with the only goal of the game on nine minutes.

However, the Plunketts dominated the remainder of the half and with David Lambe, Adam Brodigan, Luke Haggans and Sean Callaghan among the scores, they went in at the break with a 0-7 to 1-2 advantage.

That lead was maintained after the first eight points of the second half were shared, but Grimes struck two late points to level the game after 57 minutes. Time appeared to have run out for both teams to snatch a winner but Brodigan had the final say as he fired over the final point to secure victory.
