LANNLEIRE 1-11
GLYDE RANGERS 0-8
Lannleire made it through to the Junior Championship Final as a late Bob Murphy goal saw them through against Glyde Rangers at Ardee on Saturday afternoon.
Although the Dunleer men came out on top by six points, the scoreline doesn’t reflect a tense encounter that was in the balance up until the closing minutes.
Despite losing Colin Murphy to an early injury, Lannleire went into the first water break level at two points apiece thanks to a brace from Killian Gregory.
Points from Brian Duffy (2) and Barry Sharkey had the Tallanstown side leading by 0-5 to 0-2 with the interval approaching but Lannleire responded in terrific fashion and scored the last three points of the half, the first of which was an excellent effort from Darragh Malone.
There continued to be little between the teams in the third quarter as Glyde scored through Trevor O’Brien, Gerard Bourton and Gareth Moran in reply to efforts from Niall Lennon and Paul Callan to level the game at eight points apiece.
Killian Gregory edged Lannleire in front and in a tense finale Gregory and Pierce Hawkins extended that advantage. Glyde were still in the game and had claims for a penalty turned down before Murphy fisted home a late goal to put the game beyond doubt.
