Sympathy: Dromard GAA extends its sympathy to Gerry Hagan, Killoe, and the Hagan and Frahill families, on the recent passing of Gerry’s sister Fidelma Frahill. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.

2021 Senior Championship: Best of luck to our senior footballers and to manager Padraig Brady and his backroom team in Round 1 of the senior Championship against Abbeylara. The game takes place this Sunday (5 September) at 5.30pm in Fr McGee Park in Colmcille.

Sponsorship for Senior Footballers: Dromard GAA would like to thank Ciaran Hourican Construction (CHCL) and Gráinne Hourican (Chapter 1 Restaurant, Cavan Town) for their generous sponsorship of new training tops and zip tops for our senior football panel ahead of the commencement of the 2021 Senior Championship this weekend. Ciaran and Gráinne run successful businesses locally and are great supporters of Dromard GAA. The Club would like to thank them sincerely for their sponsorship of the superb new sets of tops for our players and management team.

2020 County Final: Congratulations to Killoe on winning the 2020 senior championship on Sunday in Pearse Park. Commiserations to Longford Slashers.

Wedding Anniversary: Congratulations to Kathleen and Sonny Brady, Dromard, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently with their family. Kathleen and Sonny have been loyal supporters of Dromard GAA for many years and have made a huge contribution to the Club and broader parish community in a variety of ways over a long period. Among many other contributions, Kathleen was one of the founding members of the Dromard Ladies Club and was instrumental in getting ladies football up and running in the parish. We wish Kathleen and Sonny many more years of health and happiness together and thank them for their service to Dromard GAA.

Information Providers Hiring: Good luck to local businessman Kevin Hourican and all at Information Providers with their new recruitment drive. Information Providers has been a long-term supporter of the club in many ways including sponsorship, social media, e-newsletters, streaming matches to mention a few. IP has also been an employer of many former and current players and provided highly skilled employment to the wider community and surrounding counties and has provided invaluable work experiences to local students starting out in their careers. Please see the Information Providers website (www.information-providers.ie) for details on the vacancies.

Dromard Parish Fundraiser: In consultation with the Parish Finance Committee, our Parish Priest Fr. Pat Lennon decided to undertake a number of projects at both churches in the Parish, St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne and St Mary’s Church, Legga. The work at Moyne has been completed with the church painted inside and outside including the Sacristy and toilets. This work has proven very popular with parishioners and has greatly improved and modernised the appearance of the church inside and out. Renovations were also completed to the Sanctuary. A number of projects have taken place at St Mary’s Church, Legga and further work is needed. In addition to these projects, several people have expressed the view that resurfacing of the tarmacadam around the perimeter of St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne, would greatly enhance the Church and improve access and safety for those attending Mass and visiting the adjoining cemetery. Since the additional projects have not been budgeted for, it has been decided to organise a fundraising campaign where the Parish community have an opportunity to make a contribution to the completion of this work at their two churches. A gofundme online website has been set up where anyone in a position to do so is asked to contribute whatever they can. The page can be accessed from the Dromard GAA facebook page or the Dromard Parish page. The direct link is: https://gofund.me/fb791616 For those who are not in a position to make a contribution online, donations can be sent directly to Fr. Pat. We trust that the people of the Parish will take pride in supporting this initiative and the contribute to the upkeep of our churches.

Masses: In-person religious services are continuing, subject to a maximum attendance of 50 people in the Church. Attendance at a Wednesday (Moyne 7pm) or Friday evening Mass (Legga 7pm) has the same status as the weekend Masses. With attendances in both churches limited to 50, Fr Pat has requested that as many people as possible attend the weekday Masses so as to avoid people having to be turned away from weekend Masses. Ushers are on duty in both churches to help ensure the safety of those attending. Masses continue to be streamed live online from from St. Francis Xavier Church Moyne on churchtv.ie/moyne and from St Mary’s Legga on churchtv.ie/legga The weekly Church Newsletter can be collected from Corrigans, Gortermone Stores or Moyne Stores and from both churches, which remain open during the day for private prayer.
