Longford are set to concede this Sunday’s Allianz Football League clash against Cork, according to a report from the Irish Examiner this morning.

The Longford county board are understood to be in talks with Croke Park about whether or not the Division 3 clash at Pearse Park this weekend should go ahead.

A decision is expected to be made this afternoon.

Cork have already sealed their return to Division 2 ahead of the seventh and final round while Longford’s promotion hopes are all but gone following last weekend’s defeat to Derry.

Should Ronan McCarthy’s men be handed the points rather than travelling to the Midlands for what is essentially a ‘dead rubber’, it would see Down, who were handed a walkover by Leitrim last weekend, promoted alongside the Leesiders.
